I Did Not Marry The Man Of My Dreams...

me and hubby
July 18, 2011 marked our 10th wedding anniversary.  I still can't believe that I've been married for 10 years, I mean, having been in a relationship and commitment for a decade is certainly a great achievement.  Our marriage has been through a lot of rough times and we've had a few episodes wherein we almost called it quits.  Well, I was the one who wanted to call it quits and was practically shoving my husband out of our home and out of my life so that I won't have to experience all those heartaches.

My husband and I have experienced all the problems that probably all married couples goes through- from fights about money matters, family issues (not getting along with relatives specifically with in-laws), issues of having too much time with friends than family, having an affair and jealousy. When I think about the past years and those rocky moments we've had, I'm just thankful that God was always there to guide us and see us through it all.  We've survived those trials in our marriage and thankfully, we're still together.

I did not marry the man of my dreams - he's the very opposite of what I envisioned my husband to be like.  But that didn't stop me from loving him, from forgiving and accepting him despite his shortcomings because in my heart, I believe that I married the man that God intended me to marry and to be with for the rest of my life.  He may not be a perfect partner nor am I perfect for him, but he is God's gift to me - we are God's gift to each other, and because God entrusted him to me, I will try my very best to be with him, to love and to take care of him through thick and thin.
